About

Built because our own wealth didn't add up.

Mintelo is a personal wealth platform built on real accounting — for people whose money is spread across banks, brokers, properties and currencies, and who are tired of no single view ever reconciling.

We started from a simple, stubborn problem.

Founded in 2026

Real wealth doesn't fit a transaction tracker. It spreads across accounts, asset classes, tax wrappers and currencies — and the tools meant to make sense of it each see only a slice. Global trackers don't speak rand or your local currency. Local apps never go deep enough, no matter where you are located. Spreadsheets break the moment a statement format changes. Everyone managing serious money ends up reconciling it by hand, and quietly distrusting the number at the bottom.

Mintelo closes that gap. We took the one system that has reconciled complex finances honestly for five hundred years — double-entry accounting — and rebuilt it for an individual's wealth rather than a company's books. No debits and credits in sight; just a single view where your net worth actually adds up, and where you can see why it changed, not only that it did.

We're building it in South Africa first, for the way South Africans are actually taxed and actually invest — rand-and-dollar views, local and offshore accounts, the wrappers and structures that real portfolios use. The ambition reaches further than that. But the discipline is the same everywhere: show people the truth of what they own, with the rigour their wealth deserves.

Why I built Mintelo

Rian Cronje · Founder

I built Mintelo because I had the problem myself. My own wealth was spread across countries, currencies and accounts, and no tool on the market could pull it into one honest picture. I was doing it the way everyone like me does it — a sprawling spreadsheet that I half-trusted, rebuilt every time a bank changed its export format, and never quite believed when it told me what I was worth or how my investments had really performed.

The deeper I dug, the clearer it got: the tools weren't wrong because they were badly made. They were wrong because they were never built on real accounting. A net-worth line that flatters your savings as investment performance can't separate a currency swing from a genuine gain, and quietly drifts a few percent off the truth isn't a small problem when it's your life's work on the screen. I wanted the version that reconciles — the one a finance professional would actually trust.

I've spent twenty-five years in senior international finance, most recently as a Group Financial Controller running multi-currency consolidations across borders. Reconciling complex, multi-entity, multi-currency wealth into one true set of numbers is, quite literally, the job I've done my whole career. Mintelo is that discipline, turned on the problem I couldn't solve with the current tools available — and built so that anyone managing real wealth can have it too.
